| Title | SMHS Workplace Injury Early Intervention Program (EIP) |
| Reference Number | SMHS20218092 |
| Description | South Metropolitan Health Service (SMHS) is committed to early intervention and pro-active injury management for SMHS employees injured as a result of a workplace incident. Early intervention can be defined broadly as emphasis on an early and effective response to a workplace injury, be it medical, emotional or vocational treatment and/or rehabilitation. The SMHS Workplace Injury Early Intervention Program (EIP) is a service model that recognises the importance of early treatment in facilitating return to work (RTW) and return to health outcomes. The EIP places the worker first with the emphasis on immediate care advice and injury assessment, ensuring optimal management to expedite a safe and sustainable return to work following a workplace injury or illness. The SMHS EIP includes referral by injury management consultants to an approved medical provider for review and assessment of injured workers, and where supported medically, treatment by a physiotherapy provider. The EIP has been trialled at Fiona Stanley Hospital since July 2020. Following evaluation, the program has been approved for implementation across the wider SMHS catchment, including Fiona Stanley, Fremantle and Rockingham Hospitals, and community-based support staff. This request is seeking procurement of occupational medical and physiotherapy services to support the wider SMHS EIP implementation. |
